DASA offers two internship pathways, providing students with hands-on experience based on their academic program and career interests.
Adaptive Training Internship
This internship is designed for students with a background in Exercise Science, including those who have completed an Exercise Prescription course, as well as students pursuing careers in physical or occupational therapy with relevant Exercise Science experience. Interns work one-on-one with DASA athletes and clients with complex medical and physical needs in a post-rehabilitation setting. As they gain experience, interns have the opportunity to develop individualized exercise prescriptions and lead sessions under appropriate supervision.
Programs & Events Internship
This internship provides students with a broad, hands-on look at the day-to-day operations of a nonprofit organization. Interns support DASA staff in delivering programs and events and, as they gain experience, take on greater responsibility for specific programs and event activities. Interns gain experience in adaptive sports programming, event planning, business administration, customer service, and working directly with athletes across a variety of DASA programs.
Through the interview process, DASA identifies internship responsibilities that align with each candidate’s degree program, academic requirements, and areas of interest to serve areas of need for the organization.
Candidates must be enrolled in a relevant degree program at an accredited university and eligible to receive academic credit for the internship.
